Get rich fast, with Adsense… well maybe not.

I thought I would try something, now that my blog is getting a small amount of trafic, something I never really quit understood: Is it possible to make ANY money with Google Adsense and how much trafic do you actually need?
Currently my blog uses the default WordPress theme, because I like the simplicity of it and because it support pretty much everything. Blogs shouldn’t be about fancy layouts and graphics anyway, they should be about content, something I completely lack. This makes my blog pretty much a standard blog, little or no relevant content and a limited amount of readers, so the perfect setting for testing the income for the average blogger.
It seemed silly to plaster my blog with ads, so I opted for something simple. There’s a small verical ad in the menu on the left and a horizontal ads on each post. This means that there is only ONE ads block on each page. I haven’t yet figured out how Google calculate how much you should be paid, but I believe that it’s a combination of pay per impression and pay per click, where clicks of cause generate the most money for me.
Let’s see if it generate any income for me, my best guess is: “Probable not”, I doubt that my 20 – 100 readers a day will generate anything impressive.

I am currently doing the same experiment (and I believe with me quite a lot of other bloggers).
What I really don’t get, is that google keeps your possible income as such a big secret. Several places they states that you should really just go ahead and ad their adds, and then see how much you are going to earn on it afterwards.
In Denmark we have a saying about buying the cat in a sack. I can’t really imagine other companys that would get away with this that easy!
Imagine applying for a job, and when you asks the manager about your wage, he says: “Now you just take that job, and in the end of the month (or maybe later?) you’ll see what’s on the paycheck!”
I’m pretty sure that none of us would go for such a deal! And yet here we are, in the long AdSense paycheck queue, with no idea whether any of us will ever grow dollar one on this. I have read that they are not going to pay you anything untill you have earned $100. So far I have had some views, but my balance is still a great zero. I guess I just have to let my experiment go on a little longer.
I seriously doubt that google would accept the same conditions when they sell adds? “My company will buy 10.000 views of this banner, and when you have shown it 10.000 times, we will tell you what you are going to get for that”?
